Livelihood skills promotion (Income Generating Program)
CSF encourages communities to engage in IGAs that sustainably utilizes the resources available in their communities. This is done through promotion of entrepreneurship skills like farming, bakery and other small scale activities to complement the family incomes. Other skills of traditional craftsmanship, food harvesting and storage are also taught to the rural communities with a view of promoting food security.
Other sources of income that are promoted include bee keeping, fish farming, basket and mat weaving, goat keeping, piggery, etc. CSF has promoted sustainable farming practices through organizing famer exchange visits, establishment of demonstration gardens and model farmers in our project area. Especially women and their families learn how to address their basic nutritional requirements through the incorporation of indigenous crops into their farming techniques.
Civic & Environmental Education seminars have helped raise awareness about crop diversification and the importance of local food production.
